The Board of Directors voted to cancel the water hydrant project in Evergreen due to the fact that the majority of the Property Owner’s survey ballots presented to the Martin County Utilities Department were against the proposal. The Board felt that there has been more than sufficient accurate information communicated to the Property Owners on which to make a prudent decision and, due to this fact, were satisfied that any further information communicated at a Town Hall meeting would not be sufficient to change the outcome of the vote.
Furthermore, Martin County Utilities has not met the needs of the community in presenting timely information and/or communication to the satisfaction of the Board members from the start of this project. As a result of these actions, the Board sent an email to the County Representatives requesting that the project be canceled. The County complied with this request.
